After announcing our plans in December 2023 to revolutionise the web3 infrastructure landscape by adding support for Remote Procedure Call (RPC) providers to our decentralised network, SubQuery is proud to announce that decentralised RPC endpoints are officially running on SubQuery’s internal testnet. This is a significant leap towards the infrastructure revolution which will holistically improve the entire developer experience.

The SubQuery Network is already hosting proficient indexers to provide a completely decentralised way for dApp developers to source and query their data. With the recent addition of RPCs to SubQuery’s internal testnet, we are one step closer to providing an open market for both data indexers and RPC providers and their consumers that solves all of the fundamental issues outlined earlier. SubQuery expects that RPC support will launch in just a few short weeks after the launch of our decentralised mainnet.

SubQuery set out with the goal of decentralising RPCs last year. We set our sights on this because RPC services are still the main interface to the blockchain - under the hood of your favourite dApp, dozens of requests are passing through centralised RPC providers to query and submit transactions to the network. They are the most critical part of the web3 infrastructure landscape and when one has an outage, the effects reverberate across the industry. SubQuery identified the fundamental issues with existing RPC solutions being expensive, largely centralised, pose high barriers to entry, and result in no redundancy for dApp developers.

As laid out in the recently updated SubQuery roadmap, SubQuery is well and truly on track to release full RPC support in March 2024. From there the focus will shift to enhancing and then democratising these RPCs which means developers will no longer be limited by pruned archive nodes and poor query performance and node operators will benefit from significantly lower running costs.

SubQuery’s immediate focus now is the upcoming Public Sale on Tuesday 30th January 2024. The SubQuery Foundation has a dedicated sale page with all sale details and KYC registration is open for participants interested in purchasing the SubQuery Token (SQT) in the Public Sale. Alongside this significant milestone, we will also launch our SubQuery Network mainnet, marking the opening of our data marketplace and beginning of the web3 infrastructure revolution.
