SubQuery is innovating web3 infrastructure so builders can decentralise the future. In our journey to become the leading indexer and more recently an infrastructure revolution in web3, we have relied on the expertise and vision of a select group of Advisors. In this Advisor Profile series we endeavour to learn more about one of these Advisors and what makes them excited about SubQuery.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO SUPPORT SUBQUERY?

When I first got involved with web3, it became clear that infrastructure solutions would be pivotal in the mainstream adoption of blockchain technologies. Infrastructure is often the biggest distraction and burden when it comes to focusing on our core use case and scaling without hiccups.

Infrastructure projects may not be the “sexiest” blockchain projects however there is no doubt they are critical. In an industry that is known to be tumultuous and volatile, it makes sense to focus on the critical components to make sure they’re done right and then we can add all the bells and whistles. When I came across SubQuery I knew they were on to something, and once I delved deeper, I understood how compelling a platform it is.

WHAT’S THE GROWTH CASE FOR THE WEB3 INFRASTRUCTURE MARKET?

The rise of decentralised applications (dApps) and blockchain platforms has created a burgeoning ecosystem which requires robust infrastructure to support scalability, data indexing, and seamless interactions. As the web3 space expands, the demand for decentralised data infrastructure, including solutions like SubQuery, is poised to grow exponentially.

The decentralisation of critical components such as data indexers and RPC providers is becoming imperative to foster a truly open and efficient web3 environment. With projects like SubQuery addressing these challenges and contributing to the democratisation of services, the web3 infrastructure market presents a promising growth case.

WHAT IS YOUR OUTLOOK FOR CROSS-CHAIN / UNIVERSAL INDEXING SOLUTIONS?

With the proliferation of blockchain networks and the rise of diverse web3 use cases , a single-chain approach is no longer sufficient to meet the demands of dApps and users. Multi-chain indexing solutions are essential to address the challenges posed by the fragmentation of blockchain networks.

SubQuery is an example of a tool that embraces the multi-chain approach, enabling developers to efficiently access and organize data and provide a unified view of information scattered across multiple blockchains. Championing a developer-first approach makes SubQuery a compelling value proposition for web3 developers.

WHAT EXCITES YOU THE MOST ABOUT WHAT SUBQUERY ARE DOING?

SubQuery's potential lies in its role as a catalyst for decentralised innovation. I was already excited about SubQuery as a fast, flexible and feature-rich indexing tool, so when the team decided to include decentralised RPCs in their network and tackle the wider infrastructure landscape, I couldn’t wait to help them navigate this.

By revolutionizing infrastructure in the web3 ecosystem, SubQuery not only addresses the current challenges but also unlocks new possibilities for scalability and interoperability.
